The 2015 North Yorkshire & South Durham PA’s Annual Competitions were hosted by Northalleton CC on Monday 30th November. With their members Val Burdis DPAGB and Miles Langthorne DPAGB APAGB, being the NYSD Chairman and Competition Secretary Competition respectively, it was very much down to Northallerton to put on a good event for the Association. That they managed to do this so well is a credit to them and more importantly the committee, who put so much into organising the evening.
That being said the evening also proved to be an outstanding success photographically for both Northallerton CC and Saltburn PS. Saltburn PS pipped Northallerton CC to the post in the Inter-club Prints Section, which was judged by Leo Palmer FRPS FPSA GMPSA EFIAP APAGB of Hexham & Dist PS. The scores when totted up left Saltburn had scored 165 points from their six prints to Northallerton’s 163. Stokesley PS came in 3rd with 152 points.
The trophy for the Best Colour Print went to Pauline Pentony ARPS (Northallerton) with her print “Venus”, and that for the Best Monochrome Print went to Ian Snowdon (Saltburn) with “Life from Within”.
However in the PDI Inter-Club Section, Northallerton CC were clear winners with 171 points to Saltburn’s 150, which put them in 2nd place ahead of Hartlepool P&DG with 145 in 3rd place.
The trophy for the Best PDI Image was awarded to John Webster ARPS MPAGB with “Crested Tit in Snow Storm”.
The scores for the two Sections when added together give the result of the Overall Inter-Club Trophy, and this meant that, with 333 points to Saltburn’s 315, Northallerton CC were the clear winners this year. Third place went to Hartlepool P&DG with 291 points overall.
In the Silver Salver competition for individual entries of Prints, judged by Alan Porrett ARPS EFIAP DPAGB APAGB of Whitley Bay PS, the trophy for the best entry was awarded to our Pauline Pentony ARPS for her image entitled “Embrace”.
Northallerton’s success continued in the Individual PDI competition, which was judged by Liz Boud from UPP of GB&I. This time the trophy for Best Individual PDI went to Miles Langthorne DPAGB APAGB for his image entiitled “Street Urchin”.
