News from Around the Federation
“Congratulations to Federation Members.”
Once again it is our pleasant duty to highlight the success of our two of our members. Christine Giles of Hexham & District PS is to be congratulated on gaining her Associateship (ARPS) from RPS, and Dave Coates, your webmaster, is very proud to have been given the distinction ESFIAP (excellance of service) by FIAP.
Christine Giles ARPS gained her Associateship with 15 stunning images submitted in the Travel Category from the Royal Photographic Society. The quality of her work can be seen from the image below and if you wish to see the whole of her successful panel it can be seen on the Hexham PS Website

Well done Christine, your achievement is one to be proud of.
As one of his other rolls in organised photography Dave Coates ARPS ESFIAP EFIAP/p APSA EPSA MPAGB APAGB is the FIAP Liaison Officer for the PAGB, and in this capacity he recently attended the biennial FIAP Congress in Turkey. On the last evening, towards the end of the dinner and presentation of awards he was, to say the least, surpised to hear his name called out by the President having been awarded the ESFIAP Distinction.

The award is granted for excellence of service to FIAP and, whilst often granted following a nomination from the recipient’s own country, the FIAP Directory Board chose to grant it themselves in this case. It is a great honour not only for Dave but also for PAGB and all those, including PAGB’s FIAP Sub-committee and his wife Sheila, who have helped him so much over the last three to four years in his duties as Liaison Officer.
