Once again portfolio’s of images from the work selected at the annual NCPF competitions 2018 will be available to purchase. Portfolio’s will be on CD and will be distributed to clubs by the end of August 2018. This year portfolio’s will be provided as follows:- 1 with comments ,1 without comments together with a word file.

Photography weekend 2018
The NCPF in partnership with Beamish Museum and following on from the success of our previous Beamish Photography Weekend are proud to announce our 8th joint venture.
Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May, and coinciding with a empire weekend event there will be some excellent photographic opportunities.
Once again there will be the opportunity for all clubs to sell prints with an open selling exhibition of prints by NCPF members 25% commission will be payable on all work sold .
And don’t forget you have the opportunity to enter the Beamish trophy our competition for images taken over the weekend. Plan your club visit now.
Entry to the museum is only £19.00 and gives access as many times as you wish for a period of one year concession available see beamish .org.uk
The Annual Clubs Championship is held each year to find the top projected image and print clubs in the area. It is a competition for club entries not individuals.
It is to be held next on
Sunday 18th February 2018 at
Clara Vale Village Hall, Clara Vale, Tyne and Wear. NE40 3SY
Deadline for DI submissions is Fri 27th Jan 2018
All Affiliated Clubs are entitled to enter the competition and entry will be FREE A club selects its entry from pictures submitted by its own members. There are separate competitions for Projected Images and Prints.

This year the Beamish trophy was PDI only no prints, and was judged by only one NCPF judge
who this year was Stuart Skelsey LRPS,CPAGB,BPE1 of Whitley bay PS.
The entry for this year competition was 53 pdi and was the work of 28 club members.
The result was as follows:-

This will be the 7th year that the NCPF Beamish Trophy will be competed for by members based on the Beamish Weekend. The competition will be for PDI only, the images having been only exposed during the period of 31st August, 2016 and 31st August, 2017 at Beamish Museum.
Each entrant can submit up to 2 PDI’s, The PDI file size is maximum 1400 (horizontal) and 1050 (vertical). The file name should be: “title-your name-your club”. All entries should be accompanied with a completed Entry Form (Click here to download).
PDI’s should be emailed to email@example.com by no later than 15th October. 2017
Judging the pdi will be on 5th November 2017.
The Judges Subcommittee is looking to adding to its current list of Judges at Club level and to this end will hold a recruitment seminar at CLARA VALE COMMUNITY CENTRE on Sunday the 25th February 2018 between 10am and 4pm.
This event is primarily to encourage photographers with an interest in judging at club level to get an overview of the skills required and to take part in practical judging exercises in front of the assembled participants. The day will conclude with the opportunity to be assessed and if appropriate have your name added to the NCPF list of club judges.
The day is free of charge and includes lunch together with refreshments in the morning and afternoon. If you are interested in taking part please complete the form (click here to download form) and return the whole document to me, preferably by email.
It won’t cost you anything and you might even learn something. Further details will be provided nearer the event.

Interclub Competition Secretary Report 2017
Once again this season there was only one interclub competition.
This was the annual Interclub competition between Gateshead CC Sunderland PA and Tynemouth PS.
The competition was held at Sunderland on Thursday December 7th
The judge was Jim Welsh LRPS, CPAGB, APAGB Of Blyth.
As expected, Jim gave us much useful insight as to the merits of each print.
The standard this year was very high across the board, and the result was very close.
The result was as follows:-
Gateshead CC 3rd with 304 points,
Tynemouth PS 2nd with 312 points
Sunderland PA 1st with 314 points.
1st Hexham PS – 262
2nd Winlaton CC – 260
2nd Ryton CC – 260
3rd Whickham PC- 258
3rd South Shields PS – 258
4th Gateshead CC – 255
After a long absence of holding any interclub competitions, Ryton hosted an interclub competition on Tuesday 31stOctober 2017 against Ponteland.
The standard of print and PDI images was very high from both clubs and was ably judged by Dave Best from Hexham.
The final outcome was a flattering Ryton win by 604 to 544 points but this was really all about both clubs sharing a very pleasant evening together, enjoying looking at each others work and enjoying a good raffle and buffet together.
The event was held on 4th November and was hosted by Penrith CC, the judge and speaker was Leo Palmer FRPS, FPSA,GMPSA,APAGB
RESULTS OF THE NORTHERN AREA INTERCLUB COLOUR & MONO PRINT COMPETITION
The Northern Area Interclub Colour & Monochrome Print Competition between Alnwick, Amble, Ashington, Blyth, Cambois and Morpeth was held on Wednesday 18th October 2017. This event was hosted by Alnwick Camera Club and judged by Dave Phillips.
The winning club was Morpeth with a top score of 219 points. In 2nd place was Alnwick with 209 points, 3rd place was Blyth with 208 points, 4th place was Ashington with 207 points, 5th place was Cambois with 204 points and 6th place was Amble with 197 points. Two prints gained the highest score of 30 points. In the Mono section – ‘Tawny Owl’ by Steve McDonald and in the Colour section – ‘Breakfast’ by George Sudlow. Both are members of Morpeth Camera Club. Well done to the members of Morpeth who swept the board in this competiion.
The host club provided an excellent buffet and raffle afterwards. Thanks to the members of Alnwick and Dave Phillips for an entertaining and enjoyable evening.

NTA Annual PDI Competition
The PDI competition was judged by Malcolm Blenkey LRPS and hosted by Cramlington CC on 30th March 2017. Again, all 7 clubs participated, each submitting 8 digital images. It proved a close and exciting event with the winners being decided on the score of the very last image (from Whitley Bay), leaving Tynemouth PS the victors by a single point. The trophy for best digital image was won by Andrew Nicoll of Whitley Bay for his ‘Tynemouth Spray’. Positions and scores were as follows:

The annual South Tyne area print inter club was held at Hexham PS on Tuesday February 28th, and was judged by Malcolm Kus ARPS DPAGB EFIAP.
All 6 area clubs took part and each submitted 10 prints, Results were as follows:-

Hosted by the Gallery Photogroup this year, the North Yorkshire and South Durham region held its presentation night on 25th November 2016 for the annual competitions for individual and interclub prints and DPIs.
For the first time the interclub prints’ judge – Tony Worobiec – gave his comments before a live audience in the the Acklam Green Centre in Middlesbrough. The audience was highly appreciative of his presentation. Also presented were recordings of the judges’ comments for the DPI and individual prints and DPI competitions whilst the images were displayed.
Congratulations to Stokesley Photographic Society who were the overall winners of the combined Inter club prints and Inter club DPI competitions. Gallery Photo Group won the Inter Club prints competition and Stockton Camera Club were victors in the Inter Club DPI competition.
