NCPF News / Events
On Sunday 22nd November 2015 the NCPF Presentation Event was held at Clara Vale Community Centre. Trophy’s were presented by President of the NCPF Cliff Banks LRPS, AFIAP, PSA3*. The event was well supported and provides a great opportunity to celebrate our members success, and meet members from all areas of the Federation.
Northern Counties has been a member of the Photographic Society of America since 1980 when the Northern Counties Salon was set up and applied for PSA Patronage and medals.
Several of our members also joined PSA and through entering salon have over the years acquired PSA distinctions.
PSA publishes a monthly “JOURNAL” and through the wonders of modern technology and with the consent of PSA it is now possible to bring to the members of NCPF some of the interesting information in that Journal.
The weekend of May 30-31 saw the annual exhibition of work by NCPF members as well as a selection of prints from the 35th Northern Counties Salon.
A total of 1001 people visited the exhibition over the course of the weekend with 4 prints sold: congratulations to the successful authors-it is always nice when somebody likes your work so much they are willing to put their hands in their pockets and buy it, even if the amounts concerned are not exactly life changing!
Congratulations to all those who enjoyed success in this years Annual Competition. And many thanks to all of our members who supported the competition by entering work, and of course the many people involved in the organisation and judging of the competition.
I’m pleased to announce that the report and results are now published on the site and can be found by clicking the below links:-
More images from the Competition will be appearing on the site soon

Our congratulations go to Walter Bulmer a member of Durham PS who has had one of his images “Stumped Squirrel” (Shown above) chosen for the January page of the BBC Countryfile calendar 2016.
Sales of the calendar are in aid of BBC Children in Need and the front cover will be chosen from the 12 monthly photographs by public vote. We wish Walter good luck in making the front page.
South Shields Photographic Society has triumphed once again in the small club section of Photographic Society of America’s annual competition for “Best Website”.
Having entered this competition fours years ago and won first place at the first attempt, and then subsequently third place in the second and third years. In this fourth year South Shields were successful once again in getting first place, a tremendous achievement given that this year they were the only club outside of America to get a placement in the competition.
Our congratulations go to David Stout EFIAP, DPAGB of Ryton CC. Who was recently awarded the distinction PPSA from the Photographic Society of America having had a total of 288 acceptances from 96 images including colour DPI, mono DPI, and travel DPI in PSA recognized International Exhibitions.
Well done David.
